Kym Ludvigsen Award for Viticulturalist Best Single Vineyard Wine of Show
This award is named in honour of the larger-than-life viticulturist Kym Ludvigsen (15/06/1952 – 03/12/2013). The Grampians region is blessed to claim Kym Ludvigsen in its ranks of industry notables for his influence was felt far beyond this region.
A man of endless enthusiasm and boundless curiosity his list of achievements and body of work is too numerous to mention here. In a career that spanned 35 years Kym held senior viticulture posts with Southcorp Wines (now Treasury Wine Estates) across South Australia, Victoria, NSW and Tasmania, he was an active proponent of national vine improvement and vigorously campaigned for better biosecurity management. Kym’s passion and great depth of knowledge meant he was always in demand to speak at various industry seminars and conferences. A steadfast and loyal colleague who lived life to full, he inspired all who knew him to be better and strive for the greater good.
In 2010 Kym’s contribution to industry was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award presented to him by Wine Victoria.
